Café Society, a mostly studio band, were one of the most successful white South African acts of the mid-80's. The band, featuring Julia Jade Aston of the defunct Working Girls, is the brainwave of multi-instrumentalist singer and producer Costa Anadiotis, formerly of Fantasy, once one of Johannesburg's foremost club dance rock bands.

ReplyDeleteCafe Society performed the best version of "Relight My Fire" (in my opinion). I would love to hear more of their music!
The Cafe Society version of Jefferson Airplane's 'Somebody To Love' is just epic, I had no idea they were South African but it explains that masterful disco-rock crossover sound that seems to have been perfected in South Africa in the late 70s, early 80s.
ReplyDeleteVery sorry to hear about your Mediafire account getting suspended and very worried as I use it myself.
