It remains a pretty rare, hard-to-find song to this day...

"I first heard this track around 1985/1986 on a bootleg club mix cassette tape from RONNYZ (a legendary 80's gay nightclub in Durban, South Africa) Over the years i have tracked down all of the songs from this mix tape, but this "Je Suis Passée" was one of the most difficult (typical French!) to identify and track down!
I've always loved this tune.... it should had been a bigger hit!
I love the French female vocal, but think giving the song the French language title "Je Suis Passée" made the track near impossible for non French speakers to ID/ask for/request and buy!.
Nevertheless, i have always loved this rare 80's electro classic!
Cool Song! Excellent Production! and took me 25 years to find it! "

Hi there!
ReplyDeleteI know this is asking way too much, but who knows maybe I'll be lucky?! I'm looking for a early 80's underground club track. The only words I remember is the main chorus..."Mr Maverick, Mr sweet, sweet Maverick"...(female vocals on chorus)
You have great blog here, man!!!!

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these rare Hard Corps track, it still sounds like it could have been released next week. It suprising that the band didn't get more recognition that they did but thats they way of a lot of artists who produce tracks way ahead of their time! You have some great material on your blog, I may be here some time!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you have the instrumental version (which sounds amazing) or anyone else wants to hear it, you can download it from the legendary Lovefingers.org site, its Lovefingers fingertrack 987
Hi Guys,
ReplyDeleteReally flattered by your comments and really sorry that it took you 25 years to track Je Suis Passee down.
Coincidently plans for new club remixes are in negotiation...so watch this space.

First heard Hard Corps being played by Peel and the next day tracked down the 12" single of Je Suis Passee which came in a see-through vinyl orange cover. Wonder if it's worth anything as my copy is still in pristine condition :)
ReplyDeleteI still play JSP on my iPod and it sounds as alternative now as it did then.
Happy days and happy memories of when life seemed so much simpler.

Thanks for introducing this to me x
