MarcAlex - The Very Best Of (Album) 1990 PWL South African Pop Dance Funk

South African pop twins, MarcAlex (Marc and Alex Rantselli), burst on to the late 80's pop scene with a dynamic live act and some slickly-produced and hooky songs and albums.
'Quick Quick' is still their finest moment and sounds as fresh today as when first released. That song appeared on their debut album, 'Marcalex'; their second, 'Boys B Boys', also earned a prestigious Stock Aitken and Waterman (PWL) remix. The boys also had a hit with 'Heartbreakin' Love' in the early 90's.

The Helicopters were a South African pop rock band active in the 1980s.
They formed in 1981 in Vereeniging and were stylistically similar to the New Wave bands Duran Duran and A Flock of Seagulls. Benjy Mudie signed the group to Warner Bros. Records in 1984, where they released one album and several singles; in 1987 they moved to Epic and released a second full-length before disbanding.
The band scored several hit singles in South Africa, including "Mysteries and Jealousy"; "Whisper Your Secret"; and "Western Skies". The group was a popular concert draw, able to fill stadiums in its home country.
After the band's breakup, lead singer Bernard Binns moved to England, where he has released several solo albums

Stirling & Tellinger - Songs from 1983 to 2002 (Best Of Album) 80's new romantic south african pop

STIRLING AND TELLINGER
In 1983, Stirling & Tellinger released their debut single, 'Call Me', and became one of South Africa's favourite 80's pop duos. The song became an instant radio hit and the audiences flocked to see this fresh new South African act. Their tight harmonies and simple approach to performance made them a favourite with live audiences. The video of 'Call Me' set new trends and standards in SA music video circles and was voted the 2nd Most Popular Music video at Midem in Cannes in 1984.
Stirling & Tellinger became a permanent feature on the live music circuit and in 1984 they released their second single, 'What's A Nice Girl Like You, Doing In A Place Like This', which also did very well and established S&T as a quality act to take seriously. After three years of live appearances, and a national tour, they left for the USA to record an album. This caused an unexpected break in the momentum and the album was only released about two years later as part of a TV series called 'The Star Shooters'.
After 20 years and very active individual careers, 'The Best of Stirling & Tellinger' was released on CD to bring back some good memories to those who frequented the live music venues of SA in the early 80's.
The “Call Me” video (see video here) was voted among the top two most popular videos at MIDEM in Cannes 1983.

éVoid - éVoid (Album) 1983 [rare south african afro/pop/dance/punk band]

éVoid was a popular 1980s afro rock/pop/jive/dance/punk band in South Africa.
Their eponymous debut album was released in South Africa in 1983 resulting in major chart success to match their success as a live band.
Hits on this album are TAXIMAN; SHADOWS and I AM A FADGET
They were certainly the most successful and influential of the white punk bands to take up African images and sounds in their rebellion against apartheid. At the time they were a three piece band featuring the Windrich brothers Lucien and Erik on guitars, keyboards and vocals with Wayne Harker on drums.
