Working Girls - We're the Working Girls (12'' Extended Mix) 1984 (South African Pop) 80's "HARD-TO-FIND" Very RARE!

electro pop disco 80's
The Working Girls

80's South Africa disco group with an impressive debut song.
They had a few more, but this was their best. I love how they incorporate words like "typewriter" in the song lyrics! You can even hear one typing in the background.

Great cover, too! Very hard to find 12" single, probably due to being hard to search being self titled. The words "working girls" brings up many hits on search engines and it's hard to weed out this record. Even still, it's extremely rare.

"We're the working girls, we're the working girls, uh-huh ...".

Catchy chorus and the synth melody fits in perfectly right behind it.

Julia Jade Aston, Justine Hertz, Theo Andalis, Chevvy Ryan, Lee Sharri

TRACKLISTING:
01 People Like Us feat Cindy Dickenson - Hiroshima (never too late for tears) (6.36)
02 People Like Us feat Cindy Dickenson - Restless Hearts (5.46)

People Like Us was a South-African Hi-NRG band from the mid-1980s who had worldwide success with their dance hits "Deliverance" & "Midnight Lover"

Biography of lead singer, Cindy Dickenson

Cindy was born in the UK and received professional training from the age of ten as a soprano at The Manchester School Of Music under Professor Campbell from BBC Radio.

She worked with various bands all over the UK and also got involved with song writing. She came to visit her sister in South Africa and enjoyed it so much that she decided to stay. Whilst there she got an agent, which got her signed at RPM Records. She soon released a rock-orientated single "Love Stealer", which had on the B-side one of her own compositions, "You make me fee like a woman". With that song she won a Sarie Award (South African equivalent to the Grammies).

The group Syndicate, with band member Peps Cotummaccio, approached her to join them and they were soon touring Cape Town for six months and also travelled to Italy, England, Greece, Portugal and Mexico for performances. They released the single "Don’t Go Into Town".

Paul Crossley and Terry Owen then became involved with her on People Like Us and recorded several songs. After the birth of her son Cindy took a break from the industry and later became involved with other projects including Strutt, with Denise Ostler and Helena Muir. Strutt recently also included a male singer David who came from Cindy’s singing school Reach For The Stars Voice Training Academy, of which she is the director.

Cindy Dickenson is currently living in Durban, South Africa where her husband is the radio DJ Dave Guselli on East Coast Radio.

Soft Cell - Sex Dwarf (12'' Maxi USA Promo) 1981 hi-nrg disco synth 80's "HARD-TO-FIND" Very Rare! SLEAZY ELECTRO DISCO! BANNED! VIDEO! Classic Cult Underground

 hi-nrg disco synth 80's
SEX DWARF (from Soft Cell's - "Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret" Album) recorded in New York City in the early 80's at the height of its gay club scene, at a time when the drug MDMA (also known as ecstasy) was just beginning to become popular.

The sound and club beats of the album reflect this atmosphere, with songs about pornographic cinemas and infidelity, although the album's themes sprang not from New York but the seedy underworld of early '80s London.

The group caused some controversy in the UK over the single "Sex Dwarf", the music video of which was banned for explicit, S&M-related content.

The duo would delve deeper into its fascination with decadence on its subsequent works, including the 1982 remix album Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing, which features an alternate cut of "Sex Dwarf" on which singer Marc Almond appears to simulate a female orgasm with his voice.
